EMPLOYMENT EQUALITY ACT, 1977 REGULATIONS 1977. I, MICHAEL O'LEARY, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 53 of the Employment Equality Act, 1977 (No. 16 of 1977), hereby make the following Regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Employment Equality Act, 1977 Regulations, 1977. 2. In these Regulations "The Act" means the Employment Equality Act, 1977 (No. 16 of 1977). 3. Section 3 of the Act shall not apply to an appointment to which section 53
(2)of the Act applies. 4. Section 53
(2)of the Act applies to an appointment, made or to be made before the expiry of the period of six months from the 1st day of July, 1977, to any of the offices and positions specified in column
(2)of the Schedule to these Regulations. 5. A reference number in column
(1)of the Schedule to these Regulations is the reference number of the Civil Service Commissioners or the Local Appointment Commissioners to the office or position specified in column
(2)of that Schedule opposite the mention of that reference number in column

These regulations provide that Section 3 of the Act shall not apply before the expiry of six months from 1st July, 1977 to certain appointments to an office or position consequent on a selection by the Civil Service Commissioners or the Local Appointments Commissioners.
