STATISTICS (CENSUS OF DISTRIBUTION) ORDER, 1978. The Taoiseach in pursuance of the powers conferred by section 16
(1)of the Statistics Act, 1926 (No. 12 of 1926), and the Statistics Acts, 1926 and 1946 (Transfer of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1949 ( S.I. No. 142 of 1949 ), hereby orders as follows:—
- This Order may be cited as the Statistics (Census of Distribution) Order,
- The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.
- Statistics in respect of the year 1977 relating to undertakings carrying on a wholesale or retail distribution of goods shall be collected in the year 1978 of the several matters set out in Part I of the Schedule hereto.
- The following are the classes of persons by whom returns are to be made or information is to be given for the purposes of the said statistics, that is to say, persons carrying on a wholesale or retail distribution of goods on whom a sufficient requisition under section 8
(1)of the Statistics Act, 1926 , is made. 5. The forms to be used in the collection of the said statistics shall be the forms indicated in Part II of the Schedule hereto, a set of which, sealed with the Official Seal of the Taoiseach, have been deposited in the Department of the Taoiseach. SCHEDULE PART I The subject matter of the part relates (save where the context otherwise requires) to the year 1977. For all establishments— ( a ) Identification particulars of the establishment; ( b ) Description of business carried on; ( c ) Main categories of goods sold; ( d ) Method of selling; ( e ) Membership of Retailers Buying Groups and Wholesale Sponsored Voluntary Groups on 31 December, 1977. ( f ) Period to which the return relates; ( g ) Particulars of turnover; ( h ) Particulars of purchases; ( i ) Stocks at the beginning and the end of the year; ( j ) Particulars of the Value Added Tax invoiced to customers and deductible from purchases; ( k ) Particulars of wages and salaries paid; ( l ) Particulars of the number of persons working in the establishment in the week ended 17 September, 1977; ( m ) Selling space; ( n ) Particulars of ownership of the establishment In addition to (
- c)to (
- n)above— ( o ) For branch establishments— (
- i)Name and address of the headquarters or main shop of the undertaking; (
- ii)Description of business carried on at the headquarters or main shop of the undertaking. ( p ) For the headquarters or main shop of the undertaking operating more than one establishment— (
- i)Number of establishments operated by the undertaking in the State; (
- ii)Particulars of turnover, purchases, wages and salaries paid and number of persons engaged in week ended 17 September, 1977; (iii) Name, address and description of business conducted for each individual establishment operated by the undertaking in the State. PART II Form A—to be sent to the address of the establishment to which the form relates Form B—to be sent to the undertaking at a different address to that of the establishment to which the form relates. The purpose of this instrument is to enable a Census of Distribution to be taken relating to the year 1977, to define its scope and to require that returns be furnished to the Central Statistics Office covering all undertakings in respect of which the prescribed form is issued.
