INSURANCE (INTERMITTENT UNEMPLOYMENT) ACT, 1942 (AMENDMENT OF RATES OF WEEKLY CONTRIBUTIONS AND SUPPLEMENTARY BENEFIT) REGULATIONS, 1978. The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 46 of the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), and the Social Welfare (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 1) Order, 1947 (S. R. & O., No. 18 of 1947), and with the concurrence of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following regulations:— 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions and Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1978.
(2)These Regulations shall come into operation on the 22nd day of May,
- The Second Schedule to the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), as amended by the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions and Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1977 ( S.I. No. 159 of 1977 ) is hereby amended— ( a ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 47 new pence for each such rate of 20 new pence and ( b ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 46 new pence for each such rate of 19 new pence and ( c ) by substituting a weekly rate of contribution of 17 new pence for each such rate of 8 new pence.
- The Third Schedule to the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (No. 7 of 1942), as amended by the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 (Amendment of Rates of Weekly Contributions and Supplementary Benefit) Regulations, 1977 is hereby amended— ( a ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 87 new pence for the rate of 75 new pence and ( b ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 79 new pence for the rate of 68 new pence and ( c ) by substituting an hourly rate of supplementary benefit of 32 new pence for the rate of 26 new pence. The effect of the Regulations is to increase (a) the weekly "Wet-Time" contributions payable by persons insured under the Insurance (Intermittent Unemployment) Act, 1942 , and their employers, and (b) the hourly rates of "Wet-Time" benefit payable under the Act.
