MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS ACT, 1978 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1979. The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 (No. 4 of 1978), hereby orders as follows:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 (Commencement) Order, 1979. 2. Sections 5, 26 to 64 and 66 to 69 of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 and the First, Second, Third and Fourth Schedules to the said Act shall come into operation on the 26th day of April, 1979. GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Health this 10th day of April, 1979. CHARLES J. HAUGHEY, Minister for Health. EXPLANATORY NOTE. The effect of this commencement order is to bring into operation as from 26th April, 1979 the main provisions of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978 which provide for the registration and control of persons engaged in the practice of medicine by the Medical Council which will enter into its duties under the Act as from that date. The sections of the Act not referred to in the Commencement Order have already been brought into effect for the purpose of setting up the Medical Council.
