EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (SURVEILLANCE OF CERTAIN TWINE, CORDAGE, ROPES AND CABLES IMPORTS) REGULATIONS, 1979. I, DESMOND O'MALLEY, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Regulation 1439/74/EEC1 of the 4th day of June, 1974, hereby make the following regulations. 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Surveillance of certain Twine, Cordage, Ropes and Cables Imports) Regulations, 1979. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 24th day of April, 1979. 3. The importation into the State of any goods referred to at tariff code numbers 5904-110, 5904-130, 5904-150, 5904-170, 5904-180 and 5904-310 in the Schedule to the Imposition of Duties (No. 200) (Customs and Excise Duties and Form of Tariff) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1972 ), as amended, and originating in a country other than another Member State of the European Communities shall be subject to the production by the importer of an import document issued by the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy. 4. The European Communities (Surveillance of Sisal Binder Twine Imports) Regulations, 1975 ( S.I. No. 111 of 1975 ), are hereby revoked. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 17th day of April, 1979. These Regulations bring under national surveillance imports of twine, cordage, ropes and cables of synthetic textile fibres, originating in non-EEC countries, in addition to the existing similar surveillance on sisal binder and baler twine.
