BOROUGH OF GALWAY LOCAL ELECTORAL AREAS ORDER, 1979. The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 35 of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941), as amended by sections 3 and 87 of, and the First Schedule to the Electoral Act, 1963 (No. 19 of 1963), hereby orders as follows:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Borough of Galway Local Electoral Areas Order, 1979. 2. In this Order "the Borough" means the Borough of Galway. 3. The Borough shall be divided into the local electoral areas set out in the first column of the Schedule to this Order. 4. Each such local electoral area shall consist of the areas described in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such local electoral area. 5. The number of Members of the Council of the Borough to be elected for each such local electoral area shall be the number set out in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such local electoral area. 6. The number of the said members to be elected for each such local electoral area who are to be aldermen shall be the number set out in the fourth column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such local electoral area. This Order divides the Borough of Galway into three electoral areas for the purposes of local elections and specifies the number of members of the Council of the Borough to be elected for each area and the number of those members who are to be aldermen.
