No. 41/1980 - European Communities (Vehicle Type Approval) Regulations, 1980 AmendmentsLeasuithe The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Vehicle Type Approval) Regulations, 1980. 2. In these Regulations:— "Directives" means the Directives of the European Economic Community listed in the Schedule to these Regulations and "Directive" shall be construed accordingly; "trailer" includes a semi-trailer as defined in the Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations, 1963 ( S.I. No. 190 of 1963 ). 3. The provisions of the Road Traffic (Construction, Equipment and Use of Vehicles) Regulations 1963 to 1978, the Road Traffic (Lighting of Vehicles) Regulations 1963 to 1979 and the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 1958 to 1977 insofar as they relate to the use of a mechanically propelled vehicle, or trailer with respect to the design, constructuon, fitting, mounting or performance standards of a component of a mechanically propelled vehicle or trailer shall not apply where the component bears a European Economic Community type approval mark in accordance with Directive 70/156/EEC of the 6th day of February 1970* or where the component fulfills the performance standards of, and is mounted and fitted in accordance with the requirements of the Directive or Directives relating to such component. *OJ No. L42/123/2/70.
