AmendmentsLeasuithe S.I. No. 183 of 1981. EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (ANTIOXIDANT IN FOOD) (PURITY CRITERIA) REGULATIONS, 1981. The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Antioxidant in Food) (Purity Criteria) Regulations, 1981. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1981. 3.

(1)In these Regulations— "the Council Directive" means Council Directive 78/664/EEC 1.
(2)In these Regulations words and phrases shall have the same meaning as in the Council Directive.
  1. Subject to Article 7 of these Regulations, no antioxidant shall be manufactured, prepared, imported, distributed, or sold in the State unless such antioxidant complies with the specific purity criteria applicable to that antioxidant in the Council Directive.
  2. A person who contravenes these Regulations shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £500 and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding £50 for each day the offence is continued.
  3. These Regulations shall be enforced in the functional area of a health board by the health board.
