NATURE RESERVE (LOUGH HYNE) ESTABLISHMENT ORDER, 1981. I, PATRICK POWER, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, after consultation with the Minister for Agriculture, the Minister for Transport and the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, being satisfied that the land specified in Article 2 of the following Order, being land to which section 15 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), applies, includes a marine ecosystem which is of scientific interest and that the said ecosystem is likely to benefit if measures are taken for its protection and that it is desirable to establish the said land as a nature reserve and that the proper management by the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry of the reserve is not precluded by any interest of any other person in or over the land, for the purpose of conserving the said ecosystem do hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 15 of the said Act, as adapted by the Fisheries (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 195 of 1978 ), order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Nature Reserve (Lough Hyne) Establishment Order, 1981. 2.
(1)It is hereby declared that the lands specified in paragraph
(2)of this Article shall constitute and there is hereby established a nature reserve.
(2)The lands referred to in paragraph
(1)of this Article are all those parts of the foreshore and seabed which are situate adjacent to the townlands of Glannafeen, Coomavarrodig, Barnabah, Pookeen, Ballyoughtera, Ballyisland, Dromadoon and Bullock Island in the county of Cork and known as Lough Hyne, the Rapids and Barloge Creek which are shown on the map contained in the Schedule to this Order and thereon delineated in red. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 3rd day of June, 1981. PATRICK POWER, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry. EXPLANATORY NOTE. The Order establishes the foreshore, waters and seabed of Lough Hyne, the Rapids and Barloge Creek in Co. Cork as a Nature Reserve to be managed in such a way as to ensure the conservation of the marine ecosystem which it constitutes. The Reserve does not include Castle Island.
