AmendmentsLeasuithe I, ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Transport, being satisfied that the governments of the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule hereto have accepted the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, and being satisfied that the governments of the countries specified in Part II of the Schedule hereto have accepted the amendments to that Convention which were adopted on the 11th day of April, 1962, by the Conference of Contracting Governments to that Convention, and being satisfied that the governments of the countries specified in Part III of the Schedule hereto have accepted the amendments to that Convention which were adopted on the 21st day of October, 1969, by the Assembly of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation, and being satisfied that the Convention extends to the territories specified in Part IV of the Schedule hereto, hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 19

(1)of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956), the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), and the Tourism and Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1980 ), order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Oil Pollution of the Sea (Convention Countries and Convention Amendment Countries) Order, 1981.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of July,
  2. It is hereby declared that the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil,
  4. It is hereby declared that the countries specified in Part II of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the amendments to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, which were adopted on the 11th day of April, 1962, by the Conference of Contracting Governments to that Convention.
  5. It is hereby declared that the countries specified in Part III of the Schedule to this Order have accepted the amendments to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, which were adopted on the 21st day of October, 1969 by the Assembly of the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organisation.
  6. It is hereby declared that the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954, extends to the territories specified in Part IV of the Schedule to this Order.   7. ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Transport. EXPLANATORY NOTE. (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) This Order declares that the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil, 1954 has been accepted by the countries specified in Part I of the Schedule to the Order, that the countries specified in Part II of the Schedule have accepted the amendments to that Convention which were adopted in April, 1962, that the countries specified in Part III of the Schedule have accepted the amendments to that Convention which were adopted in October, 1969 and that the Convention extends to the territories specified in Part IV of the Schedule.
