AmendmentsLeasuithe I, LIAM KAVANAGH, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4
(6)(
- b)of the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1977 (No. 9 of 1977), hereby order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Protection of Young Persons (Prohibition on Employment of Children) Order, 1981. 2. This Order shall come into operation on the first day of January, 1982. 3. Subject to Article 4 of this Order, an employer shall not employ children to do work during school terms. 4. This Order shall not apply to children who are full time students at an institute of secondary education and who are employed pursuant to— (
- a)arrangements made, or approved of, by the Minister for Education as part of a programme of work experience, or (
- b)any similar educational programme approved of by that Minister. GIVEN under my Official Seal this 17th day of December, 1981. LIAM KAVANAGH Minister for Labour EXPLANATORY NOTE. (This note is note part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) This Order prohibits the employment of children during school terms, except where such children are full time students at an institute of secondary education and are employed in the course of a work experience programme arranged or approved of by the Minister for Education.
