EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (COMBINED ROAD/RAIL CARRIAGE OF GOODS BETWEEN MEMBER STATES) REGULATIONS, 1982. I, JOHN P. WILSON, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive 75/130/EEC 1 (as amended by Council Directive 79/5/EEC 2 and Council Directive 82/3/EEC 3), hereby make the following Regulations: 1 OJ L 48, 22.2.1975, p. 31 2 OJ L 5, 9.1.1979, p. 33. 3 OJ L 5, 9.1.1982, p. 12. 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Combined Road/Rail Carriage of Goods between Member States) Regulations, 1982. 2. In these Regulations— "the Council Directive" means Council Directive 75/130/EEC of 17 February, 1975, as amended by Council Directive 79/5/EEC of 19 December, 1978, and Council Directive 82/3/EEC of 21 December, 1981; "swap body" has the meaning assigned to it by the Council Directive. 3. Notwithstanding the limitation imposed by Article 1
(2)of the European Communities (Combined Road/Rail Carriage of Goods between Member States) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 227 of 1979 ), the Regulations shall continue to apply to containers of 20ft. and more and swap bodies which have no supports. 4. Article 1
(2)of the European Communities (Combined Road/Rail Carriage of Goods between Member States) Regulations, 1979 is hereby revoked. GIVEN under my Official Seal this 7th day of December,

These Regulations give effect to EEC Council Directive No. 75/130/EEC of 17th February, 1975 on the establishment of common rules for certain types of combined road/rail carriage of goods between Member States (as amended by EEC Council Directive Nos. 79/5/EEC of 19th December, 1978, and 82/3/EEC of 21st December, 1981). The purpose of the Directive as amended is to establish on a permanent basis, the combined road/rail measure on the carriage of containers of 20 ft. and more and swap bodies which have no supports which had applied on an experimental basis until 31st December,
