ROAD TRAFFIC (LICENSING OF TRAILERS AND SEMI-TRAILERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1983. The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 10 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1.

(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1983.
(2)The Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 35 of 1982 ) and these Regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 and
  1. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June,
  2. Article 4 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 shall be amended by the addition of after sub-article
(2)of the following sub-article:— "
(3)On application for a licence for a vehicle the use of which in a public place is prohibited unless there is in force a certificate of roadworthiness under the provisions of the European Communities (Vehicle Testing) Regulations, 1981 to 1983, the owner shall produce to the licensing authority a certificate of roadworthiness relating to the vehicle issued under those Regulations and in force at the date of the application." These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 to provide for the production to licensing authorities of a current certificate of roadworthiness where application is being made for removal of a licence in respect of a trailer or semi-trailer required to undergo annual roadworthiness testing.
