SOCIAL WELFARE (TEMPORARY PROVISIONS) REGULATIONS, 1983. The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 (No. 1 of 1981) and section 308 of the said Act as amended by section 9 of the Social Welfare Act, 1982 (No. 2 of 1982), hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Temporary Provisions) Regulations, 1983. 2. Where a person is or becomes entitled to payment of any of the following pensions, benefits or allowances under the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 — (
  4. a)disablement pension, (
  5. b)death benefit by way of pension, (
  6. c)old age (contributory) pension, (
  7. d)retirement pension, (
  8. e)survivor's benefit under section 87, (
  9. f)invalidity pension, (
  10. g)deserted wife's benefit, (
  11. h)widow's (contributory) pension, (
  12. i)orphan's (contributory) allowance, (
  13. j)old age pension, (
  14. k)blind pension, (
  15. l)widow's (non-contributory) pension, (
  16. m)orphan's (non-contributory) pension, (
  17. n)deserted wife's allowance, (
  18. o)prisoner's wife's allowance, (
  19. p)social assistance allowance, (
  20. q)single woman's allowance, in respect of the week commencing on— (
  21. i)the 8th day of December, 1983 in the case of a pension, benefit or allowance mentioned at paragraph (d ), (f ), (g), (n), (o), (
  22. p)or (
  23. q)of this article, or (
  24. ii)the 9th day of December, 1983 in the case of a pension, benefit or allowance mentioned at paragraph (a), (b), (c), (e), (h), (i), (j), (k), (l), or (
  25. m)of this article, any amount payable to him by way of that pension, benefit or allowance (including any increases) for the appropriate week shall be increased by a sum equal to that amount. EXPLANATORY NOTE. These Regulations provide for a double week's payment for long-term social welfare recipients in the week ending 9 December, 1983. The provision to double the weekly amount in payment, including any increases for dependants, applies to recipients of disablement pension, death benefit by way of pension, old age (contributory) pension, retirement pension, survivor's benefit under section 87, invalidity pension, deserted wife's benefit, widow's (contributory) pension, orphan's (contributory) allowance, old age (non-contributory) pension, blind pension, widow's (non-contributory) pension, orphan's (non-contributory) pension, deserted wife's allowance, prisoners wife's allowance, social assistance allowance and single woman's allowance.
