AmendmentsLeasuithe The Minister of Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 of the Vital Statistics and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, 1952 (No. 8 of 1952) hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Oifig An Ard-Chláraitheora (Hours of Business) Regulations, 1985. 2. In these Regulations "public holiday" means— ( a ) any day which is a public holiday for the purposes of the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1973 (no. 25 of 1973), ( b ) if Christmas Day falls on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, the day following St. Stephen's Day, ( c ) if Christmas Day falls on a Thursday, the following Monday, ( d ) if Christmas Day falls on a Friday, the following Monday and Tuesday, ( e ) if Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, the following Tuesday and Wednesday, ( f ) if Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, the following Wednesday, ( g ) if the 1st day of January falls on a Saturday, the following Monday, ( h ) if St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday, the following Monday, ( i ) Good Friday, ( j ) the Tuesday following Easter Monday. 3. Every person shall be entitled to make the searches of the indexes of the registers referred to in section 70 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844, section 50 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 and section 17 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863 during the period from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays with the following exceptions— (
4. i)any day which is a public holiday, in which case the Office will be closed, and (
5. ii)the 24th day of December, or, where such day falls on a Saturday or a Sunday the preceding Friday, when a person will be entitled to make the said searches during the period from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon. 4. The Oifig An Ard-Chláraitheora (Hours of Business) Regulations, 1974 ( S.I. No. 112 of 1974 ) are hereby revoked. 5. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 16th day of December 1985.
