COUNTY BOROUGH OF DUBLIN (WARDS) REGULATIONS, 1986. The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 88 of the Electoral Act, 1963 , (No. 19 of 1963) hereby makes the following Regulations— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the County Borough of Dublin (Wards) Regulations, 1986. 2. These Regulations shall come into force on the 12th day of April, 1986. 3. The County Borough of Dublin (Wards) Regulations, 1970 ( S.I. No. 269 of 1970 ) are hereby revoked. 4. In these Regulations "the County Borough" means the County Borough of Dublin. 5. The County Borough shall be divided into the wards specified in the Schedule to these Regulations. 6.
(1)Each ward shall consist of the area described in the second column of the Schedule to these Regulations opposite the name of such ward.
(2)In the Schedule to these Regulations— (
- a)a reference to a line drawn along any road, roadway, causeway, street, avenue, laneway, pedestrian way, railway line, bridge, river, stream or canal shall be construed as a reference to a line drawn along the centre of such road, roadway, causeway, street, avenue, laneway, pedestrian way, railway line, bridge, river, stream or canal; (
- b)a reference to the point at which any road, roadway, causeway, street, avenue, laneway, pedestrian way, railway line, bridge, river, stream, canal or imaginary projection, is said to intersect or to join any other road, roadway, causeway, street, avenue, laneway, pedestrian way, railway line, bridge, river, stream, canal, or imaginary projection shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of the one, or in the case of an imaginary projection, along that one, would be intersected or joined by a line drawn along the centre of the other, or in the case of the imaginary projection, along the other; (
- c)a reference to a point at which any road, causeway, street, avenue, laneway, railway line, river, stream, canal or imaginary projection, intersects or joins a boundary shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of such road, causeway, street, avenue, laneway, railway line, river, stream, canal, or in the case of an imaginary projection, a line drawn along such projection, would intersect or join such boundary; (
- d)a reference to a line drawn along any road, or part of a road, which consists of a dual carriageway, shall be construed as a reference to a line drawn along the centre of the central median of such dual carriageway. SCHEDULE Name of Ward Description of Ward Arran Quay A That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of North Circular Road by the imaginary northerly projection of Royal Canal Bank; thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along the said imaginary projection and Royal Canal Bank to its junction with Western Way; thence in a westerly direction along Western Way to its junction with Constitution Hill; thence in a north-westerly direction along Constitution Hill to its junction with the imaginary south-easterly projection of the eastern boundary of the Coras Iompair Éireann property at Broadstone; thence in a north-westerly direction along the said imaginary projection and boundary and the eastern boundary of the former Broadstone branch railway line to its junction with North Circular Road; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along North Circular Road to the starting point. Arran Quay B That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of North Circular Road and Prussia Street; thence in a north-easterly direction along North Circular Road to its junction with the eastern boundary of the former Broadstone branch railway line; thence in a south-easterly direction along the said eastern boundary, along the eastern boundary of Coras Iompair Éireann property at Broadstone and along its imaginary south-easterly projection to its junction with Constitution Hill; thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along Constitution Hill and Church Street Upper to its junction with King Street North; thence in a westerly direction along King Street North to its junction with Stoneybatter; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along Stoneybatter, Manor Street and Prussia Street to the starting point. Arran Quay C That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of Arbour Hill and Temple Street West; thence in an easterly direction along Arbour Hill to its junction with Stoneybatter; thence in a southerly direction along Stoneybatter to its junction with King Street North; thence in an easterly direction along King Street North to its junction with Church Street; thence in a southerly direction along Church Street and its imaginary southerly projection to its intersection by the River Liffey; thence in a north-westerly direction along the River Liffey to its intersection by Sean Heuston Bridge; thence in a northerly direction along the said bridge and its imaginary northerly projection to its intersection by Parkgate Street; thence in an easterly direction along Parkgate Street to its junction with Temple Street West; thence in a northerly direction along Temple Street West to the starting point. Arran Quay D That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of Oxmantown Road and North Circular Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along Oxmantown Road to its junction with Moira Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Moira Road to its junction with the northern boundary of St. Bricin's Hospital; thence commencing in an easterly direction and proceeding along the said boundary, along the eastern boundary of Arbour Hill Barracks and along its imaginary southerly projection to its intersection by Arbour Hill; thence in a westerly direction along Arbour Hill to its junction with Temple Street West; thence in a southerly direction along Temple Street West to its junction with Parkgate Street; thence in a westerly direction along Parkgate Street to its intersection by the imaginary southerly projection of the eastern boundary of the Phoenix Park; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along the said imaginary projection and the eastern boundary of the Phoenix Park to its intersection by the imaginary south-westerly projection of North Circular Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along the said imaginary projection and North Circular Road to the starting point. Arran Quay E That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of North Circular Road and Oxmantown Road; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along North Circular Road to its junction with Prussia Street, thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along Prussia Street, Manor Street and Stoneybatter to its junction with Arbour Hill; thence in a south-westerly direction along Arbour Hill to its intersection by the imaginary southerly projection of the eastern boundary of Arbour Hill Barracks; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along the said imaginary projection, along the eastern boundary of Arbour Hill Barracks and the northern boundary of St. Bricin's Hospital to its intersection by the imaginary south-westerly projection of Moira Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along the said imaginary projection and Moira Road to its junction with Oxmantown Road; thence in a north-westerly direction along Oxmantown Road to the starting point. Ashtown A That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of Ratoath Road by the Tolka River; thence in a south-easterly direction along Ratoath Road to its junction with Nephin Road, passing in an anti-clockwise direction around and excluding the roundabout at the said junction; thence in a south-westerly direction along Nephin Road to its junction with Navan Road; thence in a north-westerly direction alone Navan Road to its intersection by the County Borough boundary, thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to the point where it departs from the Tolka River; thence in an easterly direction along the Tolka River to the starting point. Ashtown B That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of the County Borough boundary by Navan Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along Navan Road to its junction with Skreen Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Skreen Road and its imaginary south-westerly projection to its intersection by the eastern boundary of the Phoenix Park, thence in a north-westerly direction along the eastern boundary of the Phoenix Park to its junction with the County Borough boundary; thence in a north-easterly direction along the County Borough boundary to the starting point. Ayrfield That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of Malahide Road and the entrance road to the Clare Manor Golf Driving Range; thence in a south-easterly direction along the said entrance road to its intersection by the imaginary south-westerly projection of the western boundary of the said driving range; thence in a north-easterly direction along the said imaginary projection to its junction with the southern boundary of the said driving range; thence in a south-easterly direction along the last-mentioned boundary and an imaginary straight line drawn from the south-eastern corner of the said driving range to the north-western corner of the boundary of number 2 Foxhill Green; thence in a south-easterly direction along the northern boundary of number 2 Foxhill Green, and its imaginary south-easterly projection to its intersection by the western boundary of the open space area located east of the said house; thence in a southerly direction along the western boundary of the said open space area to its junction with the eastern boundary of number 1 Foxhill Park; thence in a southerly direction along the said boundary and its imaginary southerly projection to its intersection by Millbrook Avenue; thence in a westerly direction along Millbrook Avenue to its junction with Millbrook Road; thence in a southerly direction along Millbrook Road to its junction with Tonlegee Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Tonlegee Road to its intersection by the Santry River; thence in a north-westerly direction along the Santry River to its intersection by Malahide Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along Malahide Road to the starting point, passing in a clockwise direction around and including the roundabout at the junction of Malahide Road and Blunden Drive. Ballybough A That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows: Commencing at the junction of the Tolka River and Annesley Bridge; thence in a south-westerly direction along Annesley Bridge and North Strand Road to its junction with Portland Row; thence in a north-westerly direction along Portland Row to its junction with Summerhill Parade; thence in a north-easterly direction along Summerhill Parade to its junction with the Royal Canal; thence in a north-westerly direction along the Royal Canal to its intersection by the imaginary south-westerly projection of the eastern boundary of Croke Park; thence in a north-easterly direction along the said imaginary projection, the eastern boundary of Croke Park and its imaginary north-easterly projection to its intersection by the southern boundary of the railway line connecting Connolly Station and Heuston Station; thence in a south-easterly direction along the southern boundary of the said railway line to its intersection by St. Joseph's Avenue; thence in a north-easterly direction along St. Joseph's Avenue to its junction with Clonliffe Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along Clonliffe Road to its junction with Ballybough Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along Ballybough Road and Luke Kelly Bridge to its intersection by the Tolka River; thence in a south-easterly direction along the Tolka River to the starting point. Ballybough B That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of the Royal Canal and Summerhill Parade; thence in a south-westerly direction along Summerhill Parade to its junction with North Circular Road, thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along North Circular Road to its junction with Dorset Street Lower; thence in a north-easterly direction along Dorset Street Lower and Drumcondra Road Lower to its junction with Clonliffe Road, thence in a south-easterly direction along Clonliffe Road to its junction with St. Joseph's Avenue, thence in a south-westerly direction along St. Joseph's Avenue to its intersection by the southern boundary of the railway line connecting Connolly Station and Heuston Station, thence in a north-westerly direction along the southern boundary of the said railway line to its intersection by the imaginary north-easterly projection of the eastern boundary of Croke Park; thence in a south-westerly direction along the said imaginary projection, the eastern boundary of Croke Park and its imaginary south-westerly projection to its intersection by the Royal Canal; thence in a south-easterly direction along the Royal Canal to the starting point. Ballygall A That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of Finglas Road and Mellows Road; thence in an easterly direction along the road leading from the said junction to the junction of Clune Road and Ballygall Road West; thence in a southerly direction along Ballygall Road West to its junction with Glasanaon Road thence in a south-easterly direction along Glasanaon Road to its intersection by the imaginary northerly projection of the Quarry Road; thence in a southerly direction along the said imaginary projection and the Quarry Road to its junction with Finglas Road Old; thence in a westerly direction along Finglas Road Old to its junction with Finglas Road; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along Finglas Road to the starting point. Ballygall B That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of Glasanaon Road and Ballygall Road West; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along Ballygall Road West and Glasnevin Avenue to its junction with Beneavin Drive, passing in an anti-clockwise direction around, and excluding the roundabout at the said junction, thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along Beneavin Drive and Ballygall Road East to its junction with Glasanaon Road; thence commencing in a westerly direction and proceeding along Glasanaon Road to the starting point. Ballygall C That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of Glasnevin Avenue and Ballymun Road, thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along Ballymun Road to its junction with Griffith Avenue Extension; thence in a north-westerly direction along Griffith Avenue Extension to its junction with Ballygall Road East, thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along Ballygall Road East and Beneavin Drive to its junction with Glasnevin Avenue, passing in an anti-clockwise direction around and excluding the roundabout at the said junction, thence in an easterly direction along Glasnevin Avenue to the starting point. Ballygall D That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of Glasanaon Road by the imaginary northerly projection of the Quarry Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along Glasanaon Road to its junction with Ballygall Road East, thence in a southerly direction along Ballygall Road East to its junction with Finglas Road Old; thence commencing in a westerly direction and proceeding along Finglas Road Old to its junction with the Quarry Road; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along the Quarry Road to its imaginary northerly projection to the starting point. Ballymun A That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of the County Borough boundary and the pedestrian way south of Ordnance Survey Bench Mark 238.3 at St. Margaret's Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along the said pedestrian way to its western junction with Balbutcher Lane; thence commencing in a south-westerly direction and proceeding along Balbutcher Lane to its intersection by the imaginary northerly projection of the eastern boundary of Poppintree Park; thence in a southerly direction along the said imaginary projection and, the said boundary to its junction with the southern boundary of Poppintree Park; thence commencing in a westerly direction, and proceeding along the southern boundary of Poppintree Park and its imaginary westerly projection to its intersection by Jamestown Road; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along Jamestown Road and the County borough boundary to the starting point. Ballymun B That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of Ballymun Road by the County Borough boundary; thence in a southerly direction along Ballymun Road to its intersection by the imaginary south-easterly projection of the roadway which runs from Balcurris Road between Ballymun Shopping Centre and Thomas Clarke Tower; thence in a north-westerly direction along the said imaginary projection and the said roadway to its junction with Balcurris Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Balcurris Road to its junction with Balbutcher Lane; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along Balbutcher Lane to its western junction with the pedestrian way north-east of number 1 Balbutcher Way leading to St. Margaret's Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along the said footpath to its junction with the County Borough boundary; thence commencing in an easterly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to the starting point. Ballymun C That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the junction of the County Borough boundary and Shanliss Way; thence in a southerly direction along Shanliss Way to its junction with Shanliss Avenue, thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along Shanliss Avenue to its junction with Shanliss Road; thence in a westerly direction along Shanliss Road to its junction with Ballymun Road; thence in a northerly direction along Ballymun Road to its intersection by the County Borough boundary, passing in an anticlockwise direction around, and excluding the Ballymun roundabout; thence in a south-easterly direction along the County Borough boundary to the starting point. Ballymun D That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of Ballyrmun Road by the imaginary south-easterly projection of the roadway leading from Balcurris Road between the Ballymun Shopping Centre and Thomas Clarke Tower; thence in a southerly direction along Ballymun Road (passing in a clockwise direction around and including the Ballymun roundabout) to its intersection by the imaginary easterly projection of the southern boundary of the curtilage of Ballymun Public Library: thence commencing in a westerly direction and proceeding along the said imaginary projection, the said boundary, the southern boundary of the open space lying to the south of Silloge Avenue and Sandyhill Avenue and the southern boundary of the open space north of Pinewood Crescent to the junction of the last-mentioned boundary with the eastern boundary of Poppintree Park; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along the said boundary and its imaginary northerly projection to its intersection by Balbutcher Lane; thence in a south-easterly direction along Balbutcher Lane to its unction with Balcurris Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along Balcurris Road to its junction with the roadway which leads from Balcurris Road between the Ballymun Shopping Centre and Thomas Clarke Tower; thence in a south-easterly direction along the said roadway and its imaginary south-easterly projection to the starting point. Beaumont A That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of the Santry By-Pass Road by the imaginary south-westerly projection of the rear boundary of the houses on the northern side of Lorcan Crescent; thence in a north-easterly direction along the said imaginary projection and the rear boundary of the houses on the northern and western sides of Lorcan Crescent to its junction with the northern boundary of number 44 Lorcan Crescent; thence in a north-easterly direction along the last-mentioned boundary, along an imaginary straight line drawn from the said boundary to the northern boundary of number 46 Lorcan Crescent and along the northern boundary of number 46 Lorcan Crescent to its junction with the rear boundary of the houses on the eastern and northern sides of Lorcan Crescent, thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along the last-mentioned boundary and the northern boundary of number 123 Lorcan Avenue to its junction with the rear boundary of the houses on the western side of Lorcan Avenue: thence in a northerly direction along the rear boundary of the houses on the western side of Lorcan Avenue to its junction with the northern boundary of number 133 Lorcan Avenue, thence in an easterly direction along the last-mentioned boundary and its imaginary easterly projection to its intersection by Lorcan Avenue; thence in a northerly direction along Lorcan Avenue and Ballyshannon Avenue to its intersection by the imaginary westerly projection of the rear boundary of the houses on the southern side of Ballyshannon Road; thence in an easterly direction along the said imaginary projection and the said boundary to the intersection of the rear boundary of number 131 Ballyshannon Road by the imaginary north-easterly projection of the western boundary of the Beaumont Convalescent Home property; thence commencing in a south-westerly direction and proceeding along the said imaginary projection, the said boundary and its imaginary southerly projection to its intersection by Beaumont Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Beaumont Road to its junction with Shantalla Road: thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along Shantalla Road and the Santry Fly-over to its intersection by the Santry By-Pass Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along the Santry By-Pass Road to the starting point. Beaumont B That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of Kilmore Road by the imaginary south-easterly projection of the northern boundary of St. David's National School, thence in a southerly direction along Kilmore Road to its junction with Skelly's Lane, passing in an anti-clockwise direction around and excluding the roundabout at the said junction; thence in a westerly direction along Skelly's Lane and Beaumont Road to its intersection by the imaginary southerly projection of the western boundary of the Beaumont Convalescent Home property, thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along the said imaginary projection and the western boundary of the said property and its imaginary north-easterly projection to its intersection by the rear boundary of No. 131 Ballyshannon Road; thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along the said boundary, the rear boundary of houses on the southern side of Ballyshannon Road. and an imaginary straight line drawn from the south-eastern corner of the boundary of number 1 Ballyshannon Road to the south-western corner of the boundary of number 2 Trim Road; thence commencing in an easterly direction and proceeding along the southern boundary of number 2 Trim Road. the rear boundary of the houses on the southern side of Kilbarron Road and the rear boundary of the houses on the southern side of the Castlekevin Road to its junction with the northern boundary of St. David's National School; thence in a south-easterly direction along the said boundary and its imaginary south-easterly projection to the starting point. Beaumont C That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:— Commencing at the intersection of Malahide Road by the imaginary south-easterly projection of the southern boundary of Chanel College; thence in a south-westerly direction along Malahide Road, passing in an anti-clockwise direction around and excluding Artane rounabout, to its junction with Kilmore Road; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along Kilmore Road to its intersection by the imaginary westerly projection of the laneway at the rear of the houses on the southern side of Kilmore Drive; thence in an easterly direction along the said imaginary projection and the said laneway to its intersection by the imaginary north-westerly projection of the southern boundary of the open space on the southern side of Kilmore Drive; thence in a south-easterly direction along the said imaginary projection, the southern boundary at the open space on the southern side of Kilmore Drive, the southern boundary of Chanel College and the imaginary south-easterly projection of the last-mentioned boundary to the starting point.
