AmendmentsLeasuithe S.I. No. 239 of 1986. THE FIRE PREVENTION COUNCIL (ESTABLISHMENT) ORDER, 1978 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1986. The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Local Government Services (Corporate Bodies) Act, 1971 (No. 6 of 1971), hereby orders as follows:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Fire Prevention Council (Establishment) Order, 1978 (Amendment) Order, 1986. 2. The Fire Prevention Council (Establishment) Orders 1978, 1980 and 1984 and this Order may be cited together as the Fire Prevention Council (Establishment) Orders, 1978 to 1986. 3. Article 2 of the Fire Prevention Council (Establishment) Order, 1978 is hereby amended by the substitution of the following for the definition of 'the Federation':— 'means the Irish Insurance Federation'. 4. Article 5 of the Fire Prevention Council (Establishment) Order, 1978 is hereby amended by the substitution for sub-article
(2)of the following sub-article:— '
(2)The term of office of a member of the Council shall be two years or such shorter period as may be specified by the Minister and each member shall hold office for the period for which he is appointed unless he sooner dies, resigns by letter addressed to the Minister or is notified in writing by the Minister that his membership of the Council has been terminated by the Minister.' The purpose of this Order is to provide for the assumption by the "Irish Insurance Federation" of the involvement of the Federation of Insurers in Ireland with the Fire Prevention Council and also to provide for appointment of members to the Council for periods of less than two years.
