ROAD TRANSPORT ACT, 1986 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1986. I, JIM MITCHELL, Minister for Communications, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 21 of the Road Transport Act, 1986 (No. 16 of 1986), hereby order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Road Transport Act, 1986 (Commencement) Order, 1986. 2. The 14th day of July, 1986 is hereby fixed as the day on which sections 1, 2, 9, 13 to 18 and 20 to 22 of the Road Transport Act, 1986 , shall come into operation. 3. The 14th day of July, 1986, is hereby fixed as the day on which paragraph (
- a)of section 19 of the Road Transport Act, 1986 (in so far as that paragraph relates to sections 12
(4)and 15 of the Road Transport Act, 1933 ) and paragraphs (b), (
- d)and (
- f)of the said section 19 shall come into operation. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 2nd day of July, 1986. JIM MITCHELL, Minister for Communications. EXPLANATORY NOTE. The effect of this Order is to bring into operation the sections of the Road Transport Act, 1986 relating to applications for road freight carrier's licences, the use of leased and hired vehicles, enforcement of road transport related legislation, on the spot fines, increases in penalties and the repeal of certain provisions.
