DISEASES OF ANIMALS (NOTIFICATION OF BLUETONGUE AND VESICULAR STOMATITIS) ORDER, 1986 I, AUSTIN DEASY, Minister for Agriculture in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 , 12 , 13 and 27 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), as adapted by the Agriculture and Fisheries (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 31 of 1977 ), hereby order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals (Notification of Bluetongue and Vesicular Stomatitis) Order, 1986, and shall come into operation on the 14th day of August, 1986. 2. In this Order— "animal", when used alone, means cattle, sheep, goats, and all other ruminating animals, horses, donkeys and all other equines and swine; "animal carcase" means the carcase of an animal within the meaning of this Order and includes any part of such a carcase; "disease" means Bluetongue or Vesicular Stomatitis; "diseased" means affected with a disease within such meaning. 3. Any person having in his possession or under his charge any animal or animal carcase which is diseased, or which he suspects of being diseased, shall forthwith give notice thereof to— (A) the Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Dublin 2 or (
4. b)the District Veterinary Office of the Department of Agriculture for the district in which the animal or carcase happens to be on the date of the notice. 4. Unless it is accompanied by, and is moved in accordance with conditions specified in, a permit granted for its movement by an inspector, and animal or animal carcase which is diseased, which is suspected of being diseased, or which has been exposed, by contact or otherwise, to infection with a disease, shall not be moved out of the premises or other land on which it happens to be on the date of the relevant notice given pursuant to Article 3 of this Order. The effect of this Order is to apply statutory measures to the control and eradication of bluetongue and vesicular stomatitis.
