I, MICHAEL NOONAN, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive No. 85/146/EEC of 31 January, 19851, hereby make the following Regulations: 1OJ No. L54, 23.2.85, p. 29. 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Material Measures of Length) Regulations, 1986. 2. References in the European Communities (Weights and Measures of Length) Regulations, 1975 ( S.I. No. 200 of 1975 ), as amended by the Europear Communities (Material Measures of Length) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 74 of 1979 ) and in the European Communities (Measuring Instruments) Regulations, 1977 ( S.I. No. 328 of 1977 ), as so amended, to Council Directive No. 73/362/EEC of 19 November, 19732 shall be construed as references to that Directive as amended by Council Directive No. 78/629/EEC of 19 June, 19783 and by Commission Directive No. 85/146/EEC of 31 January, 1985. 2OJ No. L335. 5.12.73, p. 56. 3OJ No. L206, 29.7.78, p. 8.
