NATURE RESERVE (OWENBOY) ESTABLISHMENT ORDER, 1986. I, LIAM KAVANAGH, Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry, after consultation with the Minister for Agriculture, the Minister for Communications and the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, being satisfied that the land specified in Article 2 of this Order, being land to which section 15 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), applies, includes an intermediate bog ecosystem which is of scientific interest and that the said ecosystem is likely to benefit if measures are taken for its protection and that it is desirable to establish the said land as a nature reserve and that the proper management of the said land as a nature reserve would not be precluded by any interest of any other person in or over the said land, for the purpose of conserving the said ecosystem do hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 15 of the said Act, as adapted by the Fisheries and Forestry (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1986 ( S.I. No. 40 of 1986 ), and amended by section 5 of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 40 of 1983), order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Nature Reserve (Owenboy) Establishment Order, 1986.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 29th day of December, 1986. 2.
(1)It is hereby declared that the land specified in paragraph
(2)of this Article shall constitute and there is hereby established a nature reserve.
(2)The land referred to in paragraph
(1)of this Article is all that part of the land known as Owenboy, situate in the townlands of Owenboy, Dooleeg Beg, Dooleeg Mor, Knocknahorna and Laughil and county of Mayo, other than any part thereof which forms part of a public road (if any) provided after the making of this Order, being the area within the inner margin of the black line and hatched in black on the map in the Schedule to this Order. Article 2
(2)SCHEDULE OWENBOY NATURE RESERVE GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 15th day of December, 1986. LIAM KAVANAGH, Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry. EXPLANATORY NOTE. The Order establishes part of the lands situate in the townlands of Owenboy, Dooleeg Beg, Dooleeg Mor, Knocknahorna and Laughil as a nature reserve so that it can be managed in such a way as to ensure the conservation of the peatland ecosystem which it constitutes.
