Definition. 2. Payments to Commission of European Communities in fulfilment of certain undertakings. 3. Short title. Act Referred to European Communities Act, 1972 1972, No. 27 Number 21 of 1988 EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (FUNDING) ACT, 1988 AN ACT TO ENABLE CERTAIN PAYMENTS TO BE MADE OUT OF THE CENTRAL FUND OR THE GROWING PRODUCE THEREOF TO THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES. [4th July, 1988] BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS AS FOLLOWS: Definition. 1.—In this Act “the European Communities” has the meaning assigned to it by section 1
(1)of the European Communities Act 1972 . Payments to Commission of European Communities in fulfilment of certain undertakings. 2.—There shall be paid out of the Central Fund or the growing produce thereof such amounts, aggregating to a sum not exceeding £40,000,000, as may be necessary to enable payments to be made to the Commission of the European Communities in fulfilment of— (
- a)the undertaking given on the 7th day of March, 1988, on behalf of the Government to pay to the European Communities the amount payable by the State under and in accordance with that undertaking, or (
- b)any other undertaking which is given, within the period beginning on the 8th day of June, 1988, and ending on the 31st day of December, 1988, on behalf of the Government to pay to the European Communities the amount payable by the State under and in accordance with such other undertaking. Short title. 3.—This Act may be cited as the European Communities (Funding) Act, 1988.
