AmendmentsLeasuithe S.I. No. 150 of 1988. DISABLED PERSONS (MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1988. The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947), and by sections 69 and 72 of the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970) hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. ( a ) These Regulations may be cited as the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances (Amendment) Regulations, 1988. ( b ) These Regulations and the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 1984 ( S.I. No. 71 of 1984 ) shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) Tegulations, 1984 and 1988. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 25th day of July, 1988. 3. With effect from the commencement of these Regulations, a maintenance allowance payable to a person in accordance with article 3 of the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 1984 shall be a weekly allowance not exceeding the personal rate of the allowance specified in the Schedule to these Regulations and increases for dependants not exceeding the amounts specified in the said Schedule as may be appropriate. 4. The Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1987 (No. 196 of 1987) are hereby revoked. £ Personal rate of allowance 45.80 Dependants for whom increases may be made in a maintenance allowance under article 3 Spouse or other dependant over 18 years of age 26.10 Each of the first two dependants under 18 years of age 9.50 Third and any subsequent dependants under 18 years of age 7.80 GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Health this 30th day of June, 1988. The effect of these Regulations is to amend the scheme of maintenance allowance payable under section 69 of the Health Act, 1970 , by providing as from 25th July, 1988 for an increase in the maximum weekly rate for eligible applicants for forty-five pounds and eighty pence and by providing for increases for dependants.
