MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES (INCREASED PAYMENT) REGULATIONS 1989. The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 and sub-section
(5)of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 , (No. 28 of 1947), and by sections 69 and 72 of the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970 ), hereby makes the following Regulations:
- These Regulations may be cited as the Maintenance Allowances (Increased Payment) Regulations
- Where a person is or becomes entitled to— ( a ) payment under sub-section
(3)of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 in accordance with the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1989 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1989 ); or ( b ) payment of a maintenance allowance under section 69 of the Health Act 1970 in accordance with the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowance) Regulations, 1984 and 1989; any amount so payable in respect of the week ending on the 8th day of December, 1989 to or in respect of himself or his dependants shall be increased by a sum equal to seventy per cent of that amount. The effect of these Regulations is to increase, in respect of the week ending 8th December 1989, the maximum weekly rate of maintenance allowances payable under section 44 of the Health Act 1947 and section 69 of the Health Act 1970 , by a sum equal to seventy per cent of that amount.
