No. 329 of 1989. CONTROL OF DOGS ACT, 1986 (GUARD DOGS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1989. The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 19 and 31 of the Control of Dogs Act, 1986 (No. 32 of 1986), hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Control of Dogs Act, 1986 (Guard Dogs) (Amendment) Regulations, 1989. 2. Article 2
(4)of the Control of Dogs Act, 1986 (Guard Dogs) Regulations, 1988 is hereby amended by the substitution of the following for the definition of "guard dog":— " 'guard dog' means a dog which is being used- ( a ) to protect premises, or ( b ) to protect goods or property kept on premises, or ( c ) to protect a person guarding premises or such goods or property, and includes any dog brought to or kept on premises to which article 3 of these Regulations applies unless it is shown that such dog was not brought to or kept on the premises for any of the purposes specified at (a), (b) and (c);"
- The First Schedule to the Control of Dogs Act, 1986 (Guard Dogs) Regulations, 1988 is hereby amended by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph 4 of the Schedule:— "
- Each dog shall be housed in a single kennel which shall be at least 2.13 metres in length, 1.37 metres in breadth and 1.52 metres in height." GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for the Environment this 11th day of December,

These Regulations amend the Control of Dogs Act, 1986 (Guard Dogs) Regulations, 1988 as respects the definition of "guard dog" and the minimum size of guard dog kennels.
