The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 103 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) (as amended by sections 6 and 64 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) and section 74 of the Finance Act, 1976 (No. 16 of 1976)) hereby makes the following Regulations: 1.

(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (Section 103) (Offences) (Amendment) Regulations, 1990.
(2)These Regulations and the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (Section 103) (Offences) Regulations, 1976 to 1986 shall be construed together as one and may be collectively cited as the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (Section 103) (Offences) Regulations, 1976 to
  2. In these Regulations: "the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (Section 103) (Offences) Regulations, 1976 ( S.I. No. 188 of 1976 ): "the 1985 Regulations" means the " Road Traffic Act, 1961 (Section 103) (Offences) (Amendment) Regulations, 1985 ( S.I. No. 255 of 1985 )". "the 1986 Regulations" means the " Road Traffic Act, 1961 (Section 103) (Offences) (Amendment) Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 443 of 1986 ).
  3. Article 5 of the Principal Regulations (as substituted by article 4 of the 1986 Regulations) is hereby amended by the substitution of the words "twenty pounds" for the words "fifteen pounds" and the words "fifteen pounds" for the words "ten pounds" in each case where they occur.
  4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations as amended by article 4 of the 1985 Regulations and article 5 of the 1986 Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of the words "twenty pounds or fifteen pounds" for the words "fifteen pounds or ten pounds" in each case where they occur in the said Schedule.
  5. These Regulations shall come into force on the 30th day of January,

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (Section 103) (Offences) Regulations, 1976 to 1986 by increasing the amount which a person liable to prosecution for an offence to which Section 103 of the Act applies may pay as an alternative to the institution of a prosecution, as follows: £15 in respect of a parking offence. £20 in respect of a clearway offence, £20 in respect of a bus lane offence.
