I, RAY BURKE, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 8 (as amended by the Animals Act, 1985 (No. 11 of 1985 )) of the Pounds (Provision and Maintenance) Act, 1935 (No. 17 of 1935), hereby make the following Regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Pounds (Amendment) Regulations, 1990. 2. The Pounds Regulations, 1985 ( S.I. No. 306 of 1985 ), and these Regulations may be cited together as the Pounds Regulations, 1985 and 1990. 3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations. 4. The Pounds Regulations, 1985, shall have effect, in relation to animals and chattels impounded on or after the 22nd day of January, 1990, as if the following Schedule were substituted for the Second Schedule to the Pounds Regulations, 1985: SECOND SCHEDULE POUND-KEEPER'S FEES For every For each period of 24 hours or part of such period £ Brood mare, stallion, hunter, polo pony, horse, mare, pony, mule, jennet and foal 23.00 Cow, heifer, bull, bullock 21.60 Calf under twelve months old 19.00 Sheep, lamb, goat, donkey 9.70 Pig 12.95 Greyhound 12.95 Ordinary domestic fowl 1.25 Turkey 1.55 Dog other than greyhound 5.75 Mechanically propelled vehicle not exceeding one tonne in weight 2.90 Mechanically propelled vehicle exceeding one tonne in weight 3.30 Article comprising a levy or first of a number of articles in a levy exceeding 50 kilogrammes estimated weight 1.10 Article comprising a levy or first of a number of articles in a levy not exceeding 50 kilogrammes estimated weight 0.65 Second and subsequent articles in the same levy 0.40 Levy of hay or straw, per estimated tonne 2.85 Levy of flax or wool, etc., per estimated tonne 2.85 Levy of corn, per estimated tonne 2.85 Levy of potatoes, turnips, beet or other root crops, per estimated tonne 2.15 GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 9th day of January, 1990.
