IMPORTATION OF LIVESTOCK (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1990. I, MICHAEL O'KENNEDY, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 97 of 1987 )), hereby order as follows: 1.

(1)This Order may be cited as Importation of Livestock (Amendment) Order, 1990.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of March, 1990.
(3)The Importation of Livestock Order, 1970, and this Order may be cited together as the Importation of Livestock Orders, 1970 and
  2. In this Order— "the Principal Order" means the Importation of Livestock Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 296 of 1970 ).
  3. The Principal Order is hereby amended by the insertion of "(other than a bovine animal less than six months of age)" after 99"livestock" in Article 4 thereof. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 26th day of February,
  4. MICHAEL O'KENNEDY, Minister for Agriculture and Food. EXPLANATORY NOTE. This Order extends the application of the Importation of Livestock Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 296 of 1970 ), to the importation of bovine animals less than six months of age from Northern Ireland. It prohibits the importation of such animals except under licence.
