OIREACHTAS (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) AND MINISTERIAL AND PARLIAMENTARY OFFICES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1992 (ALLOWANCES) REGULATIONS, 1992. I, BERTIE AHERN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3

(4)of the Oireachtas (Alowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1992 (No. 3 of 1992), hereby make the following Regulations: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1992 (Allowances) Regulations, 1992.
(2)These Regulations shall come into operation on the 6th day of April,
  2. In these Regulations "the Act of 1992" means the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1992 (No. 3 of 1992).
  3. Subject to Regulation 4 of these Regulations, the allowance referred to in section 3 of the Act of 1992 payable— ( a ) to a member of Dáil Éireann shall be the sum of £4,300 per annum, and ( b ) to a member of Seanad Éireann shall be the sum of £2,150 per annum, with effect from the 6th day of April,

The allowance may, not earlier than the 6th day of April, 1993, be revised each year with effect from such date or dates as the Minister for Finance may decide by a percentage equal to the average percentage of the revision, if any, applicable in the previous year in the travelling and subsistence rates payable to members of the Civil Service (within the meaning of the Civil Service Regulation Act, 1956 (No. 46 of 1956)).
  6. The allowance shall be payable monthly in arrears in respect of periods for which the person concerned is paid an annual sum by way of salary under section 2 (as amended by section 2 of the Act of 1992) of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Act, 1938 (No. 34 of 1938).
