No. 114 of 1994. LOCAL GOVERNMENT (BOUNDARIES) (TOWN ELECTIONS) REGULATIONS, 1994. The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 17
(1)and
(2)of the Local Government Act, 1994 (No. 8 of 1994), hereby makes the following Regulations:
- These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government (Boundaries) (Town Elections) Regulations,
- In these Regulations, except where the context otherwise requires— "the Act" means the Local Government Act, 1994 ; and "submitted map" means a submitted map within the meaning of section 17 of the Act.
- The boundary alterations effected by these Regulations shall have effect for the purposes specified in section 17
(1)and
(2)of the Act and only for such purposes.
- The existing boundary of each town specified in the Third Schedule to the Act shall be altered by reference to the submitted map in respect of that town (being a borough other than a county borough, an urban district or a town having town commissioners) so as to correspond with the proposed new boundary of that town as shown on such map.
- ( a ) The boundary between the counties of Louth and Meath shall be altered by reference to the submitted map in respect of the Borough of Drogheda insofar as is necessary so as to correspond with the proposed new boundary of the borough as shown on such map. ( b ) The boundary between the counties of Carlow and Laois shall be altered by reference to the submitted map in respect of the Urban District of Carlow insofar as is necessary so as to correspond with the proposed new boundary of the urban district as shown on such map. ( c ) The alteration of boundaries effected by this article shall come into operation simultaneously with the boundary alterations effected by article

These Regulations provide for the alteration, for the purposes of local elections, of the boundaries of certain towns listed in the Third Schedule to the Local Government Act, 1994 , by reference to maps referred to in section 17 of that Act.
