OIREACHTAS (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) REGULATIONS, 1996. I, RUAIRÍ QUINN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Act, 1962 (No. 32 of 1962), hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Regulations, 1996. 2. For the purposes of section 1 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Act, 1962, the following criteria shall, where appropriate, be taken into account by the Clerk of Dáil Éireann in determining whether or not it is too late in the day to return home— ( a ) on or after 2 p.m. on the day in question shall normally be regarded as too late, in respect of Members who reside 100 miles or more from the General Post Office in the City of Dublin and ( b ) on or after 4 p.m. on the day in question shall normally be regarded as too late in respect of Members who reside more than 20 miles and less than 100 miles from the General Post Office in the City of Dublin. 3. These regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1996. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 3rd day of May, 1996. RUAIRÍ QUINN, Minister for Finance.
