EXTRADITION (EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON THE SUPPRESSION OF TERRORISM) ACT, 1987 (DESIGNATION OF CONVENTION COUNTRIES) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1996 I, Dick Spring, Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (No. 1 of 1987 ), hereby order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (Designation of Convention Countries) (Amendment) Order, 1996.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 2nd day of August,
- The Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (Designation of Convention Countries) Order, 1989 ( S.I. No. 115 of 1989 ), is hereby amended by the insertion in the Schedule of "The Czech Republic" after "Cyprus", of "Malta" after "Luxembourg", of "Poland" after "Norway", and of "Slovakia" after "Portugal". - This Convention, which has implications for extradition, is being implemented in the State on foot of Ministerial Orders which designate those States which are also parties to the Convention. The effect of this Order is to enable extradition to take place with the Czech Republic, Malta, Poland and Slovakia, pursuant to the said Convention.
