DISEASES OF ANIMALS (BOVINE SPONGIFORM ENCEPHALOPATHY) ORDER, 1996 I, Ivan Yates, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3, 13, and 27 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1993 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1993 )), hereby order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) Order, 1996.
(2)The Diseases of Animals (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) Orders, 1989 to 1992, and this Order may be cited together as the Diseases of Animals (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) Orders, 1989 to 1996, and shall be construed together as one, unless the context otherwise requires.
(3)This Order shall come into operation on the 16th day of September,
- In this Order, "identity card" means an identity card issued pursuant to the Bovine Tuberculosis (Attestation of the State and General provisions) Order, 1989 ( S.I. No. 308 of 1989 ) or the Bovine Tuberculosis (Attestation of the State and General provisions) Order, 1996 ( S.I. no. 103 of 1996 ).
- A female animal shall not be moved for the purposes of export from the State unless the animal is accompanied by an identity card in respect of it and a permit authorising its movement into premises for export issued pursuant to this Order.
- A female animal shall neither be moved, nor be permitted to be moved, into premises on which it is intended to be slaughtered unless at the time of its entry into the premises, the animal is accompanied by an identity card in respect of it and a permit authorising its movement into premises for slaughter issued pursuant to this Order.
- An inspector, authorised officer or officer of the Minister duly authorised by the Minister so to do may issue permits for the purposes of this Order, attach conditions to any such permit, vary such conditions and revoke any such permit.
