OIREACHTAS (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) AND MINISTERIAL AND PARLIAMENTARY OFFICES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1992 (ALLOWANCES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1996 I, RUAIRÍ QUINN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3
(4)of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1992 (No. 3 of 1992), hereby make the following Regulations:
- These Regulations may be cited as the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1992 (Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations,
- These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st January,
- The Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1992 (Allowances) (No. 2) Regulations, 1992 (No. 397 of 1992), are amended by the substitution of the following regulation for regulation 7—– "7
(1)Where a member of Dail Eireann in respect of whose secretarial assistant accommodation is not provided in Leinster House incurs expenses—– ( a ) in establishing and equipping such accommodation elsewhere than in Leinster House, and certifies in writing to the appropriate authority that such expenses have been incurred, the appropriate authority shall pay to that member a sum of not more than £5,120 in final settlement of the expenses, and ( b ) in maintaining such accommodation otherwise than in Leinster House, and certifies in writing to the appropriate authority that such expenses have been incurred, the appropriate authority shall pay to that member a sum of not more than £2,600 per year.
(2)The sum referred to in paragraph
(1)(b) of this Regulation shall be paid in tranches of £1,300 on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of June in each year.
(3)A claim by a member for payment of a sum under this Regulation shall be made to the appropriate authority and shall be made in such form, contain such particulars and be accompanied by such vouchers and receipts as the Minister may from time to time direct.
(4)A member to whom paragraph
(1)of this Regulation applies shall not be provided by the State with accommodation for his or her secretarial assistant in Leinster House or with any form of assistance (including furniture or equipment other than a printer, computer and software associated therewith) towards the provision of accommodation elsewhere than in Leinster House otherwise than under this Regulation.
(5)In this Regulation 'Leinster House' includes any office premises provided by the State in the vicinity of Leinster House for use by members of Dail Eireann.".
