SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1996 (SECTIONS 17, 18, 19 AND 25) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1996 The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 21 and 29 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (No. 7 of 1996), hereby orders as follows: 1 Citation. 1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (Sections 17, 18, 19 and 25) (Commencement) Order, 1996. 2 Commencement. 2. Sections 17 , 18 , 19 and 25 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 shall come into operation on the 2nd day of January, 1997. GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Social Welfare this 20th day of December, 1996 PROINSIAS DE ROSSA Minister for Social Welfare. EXPLANATORY NOTE Sections 17 to 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 provide for the One-Parent Family Payment and section 25 of that Act amends the conditions for entitlement to Pre- Retirement Allowance in the case of a separated spouse. This Order brings these provisions into effect from the 2nd day of January, 1997.
