EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (WILDLIFE ACT, 1976) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1997 I, MICHAEL D. HIGGINS, Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving further effect to Council Directive No. 791409/EEC of 2 April 1979, hereby make the following Regulations: 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities ( Wildlife Act, 1976 ) (Amendment) Regulations, 1997.
(2)These Regulations shall come into operation on the 26th day of April,
- The First Schedule to the European Communities ( Wildlife Act, 1976 ) (Amendment) Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 254 of 1986 ) is hereby amended by— ( a ) the substitution of "House Sparrow" for "Sparrow", and ( b ) the substitution of "Pigeon and Dove including Wood Pigeon, Feral Pigeon and Collared Dove but not including Carrier Pigeon, Fan Tailed Pigeon, Homing Pigeon or other domestic types of Rock Dove, Stock Dove, Wild Rock Dove or Turtle Dove" for "Pigeon, including Wood Pigeon, but not including Carrier Pigeons, Racing Homing Pigeons or Doves". GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 11th day of April, 1997., MICHAEL D. HIGGINS, Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht. EXPLANATORY NOTE. These Regulations amend the First Schedule to the European Communities ( Wildlife Act, 1976 ) (Amendment) Regulations, 1986 by the inclusion in that Schedule of Dove, Feral Pigeon and Collared Dove and the exclusion of Fan Tailed Pigeon or other domestic types of Rock Dove, Stock Dove, Wild Rock Dove or Turtle Dove.
