SOCIAL WELFARE (CONSOLIDATED CONTRIBUTIONS AND INSURABILITY) (AMENDMENT) (DEFENCE FORCES) REGULATIONS. 1997 The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 4 and II (as amended by section 12 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (No. 7 of 1996)) of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 (No. 27 of 1993), hereby makes the following Regulations: 1 Citation and construction 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Contributions and Insurability) (Amendment) (Defence Forces) Regulations, 1997.
(2)These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Consolidated Contributions and Insurability) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 312 of 1996 ) shall be construed together as one and may be cited as the Social Welfare (Consolidated Contributions and Insurability) Regulations, 1996 to
- 2 Commencement
- These Regulations shall come into operation on the 6th day of April,
- 3 Non-commissioned army officer's and enlisted personnel of Defence Forces
- The Social Welfare (Consolidated Contributions and Insurability) Regulations, 1996 are hereby amended by the substitution in article 87
(2)(
- a)(
- i)for "5.4 per cent." of "4.4 per cent.". GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Social Welfare this 27th day of March, 1997. PROINSIAS DE ROSSA Minister for Social Welfare. The Minister for Finance hereby consents to the making of the foregoing Regulations. GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Finance this 2nd day of April, 1997. RUAIRI QUINN Minister for Finance. EXPLANATORY NOTE These Regulations provide for the reduction of the modified social insurance rate applying to non- and enlisted personnel in the Defence forces. The current rate of 5.4% is being reduced to 4.4% with effect from 6th of April 1997.
