DISTRICT COURT DISTRICTS AND AREAS (SECTION 26) ORDER, 1997. I, RICHARD BRUTON, Acting Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), as amended by section 43 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961), and by section 16 of the Courts Act, 1971 (No. 36 of 1971), and after consultation with the President of the District Court, hereby order as follows: 1.
(1)This Order may be cited as the District Court Districts and Areas (Section 26) Order, 1997.
(2)This Order shall come into operation on the 9th day of January,
- The First Schedule to the District Court (Areas) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1961 ), is hereby amended by— ( a ) the deletion of the matter in columns

(4)and
(5)at reference number 72, ( b ) the substitution for the matter in column
(5)at reference number 65 of the following: "the area comprising the District Electoral Divisions of Ballymacool, Castlewray, Church Hill, Corravaddy, Edenacarnan, Gartan, Gortnavern, Killymasny, Kilmacrenan, Letterkenny Rural, Letterkenny Urban, Magheraboy, Manorcunningham, Meencargagh, Seacor, Templedouglas, Termon, Altnapaste, Cloghan, Cloghard, Dooish, Gleneely (Stranorlar), Goland, Killygordon, Knock, Lettermore and Stranorlar in the county of Donegal.", and ( c ) the substitution for the matter in column
(4)at reference number 65 of the following: "Letterkenny— First and Third Thursday at 10.30 a.m. Second Friday in each month at 10.30 a.m.". 3. The Second Schedule to the District Court (Areas) Order, 1961, is hereby amended by— ( a ) the deletion of the matter in columns

(5)at reference number 64, ( b ) the substitution for the matter in column

( a ) The Schedule to the District Court Areas (Amendment) Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 161 of 1970 ), is hereby amended in column 4 at reference number 1 by the deletion of— (
- i)"Stranorlar", and (
- ii)"72", ( b ) The District Court Areas (Variation of Days and Hours) Order, 1987 is hereby amended by the deletion of paragraph 19. 5. Business transacted in the District Court which is initiated and not completed before the commencement of this Order shall be continued and completed as if this Order has been in force at the time at which such business had been initated. 6. The District Court Areas (Alteration of Place) (No. 1) Order, 1997, is hereby revoked. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 9th day of January, 1997. RICHARD BRUTON, Acting Minister for Justice. EXPLANATORY NOTE. This Order provides for the abolition of the District Court Area of Stranorlar and the amalgamation of the District Electoral Divisions which comprised that Area with the District Court Area of Letterkenny.
