ETHICS IN PUBLIC OFFICE (PRESCRIBED PUBLIC BODY, DESIGNATED DIRECTORSHIPS AND DESIGNATED POSITIONS IN PUBLIC BODIES) REGULATIONS, 1997. WHEREAS, I, RUAIRÍ QUINN, Minister for Finance, am of the opinion that the body specified in the following Regulations ought, in the public interest and having regard to the provisions and spirit of the Ethics in Public Office Act, 1995 (No. 22 of 1995) (hereafter referred to as the Act), to be prescribed: AND WHEREAS I consider that it is necessary in the public interest to prescribe the directorships of the public bodies specified in the following Regulations for the purposes of the definition of "designated directorship" in section 2 of the Act and the positions of employment in the public bodies specified in the following Regulations for the purposes of the definition of "designated position" in the said section 2 in order to ensure, in a case in which, in my opinion, a conflict could arise between an interest referred to in section 17 of the Act or, as the case may be, section 18 thereof and the public interest in the performance of a function of such a directorship or position, that the function will not be performed without the disclosure of the first-mentioned interest: NOW, THEREFORE, I, RUAIRÍ QUINN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of, and paragraph 1

(13)of the First Schedule to, the Ethics in Public Office Act, 1995 (No. 22 of 1995), and after consultation with such other Ministers of the Government (being the Ministers of the Government specified in the First Schedule to these Regulations) as I consider appropriate, hereby make the following Regulations:
  1. These Regulations may be cited as the Ethics in Public Office (Prescribed Public Body, Designated Directorships and Designated Positions in Public Bodies) Regulations,
  3. In these Regulations— "the Act" means the Ethics in Public Office Act, 1995 (No. 22 of 1995); "position" means position of employment.
  4. Area Development Management Limited is hereby prescribed for the purpose of paragraph 1
(13)of the First Schedule to the Act. 4. Each of the directorships specified in column
(3)of the Second Schedule to these Regulations at any reference number specified in column
(1)thereof in a public body specified in column
(2)thereof at that reference number is hereby prescribed for the purposes of the definition of "designated directorship" in section 2 of the Act. 5. Each of the positions specified in column
(4)of the Second Schedule to these Regulations at any reference number specified in column
(1)thereof in a public body specified in column
(2)thereof at that reference number is hereby prescribed for the purposes of the definition of "designated position" in section 2 of the Act. 6. The reference in section 35
