EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (MECHANICALLY PROPELLED VEHICLE EMISSION CONTROL) REGULATIONS, 1997 In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for the Environment and Local Government by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), which said powers are delegated to me by the Environment and Local Government (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 428 of 1997 ), I, Dan Wallace, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government, for the purpose of giving effect to the provisions of Council Directive 94/12/EC1 of 23 March, 1994, as it relates to air pollution emission controls on mechanically propelled vehicles, hereby make the following Regulations: 1O.J. No. L 100/42 of 19.04.1994 1.
(1)These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) Regulations, 1997
(2)These Regulations and the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) Regulations, 1995 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1995 ) and the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) (Amendment) Regulations, 1995 ( S.I. No. 334 of 1995 ) and the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) (Amendment) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 382 of 1996 ) shall be construed together as one. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1998. 3. Article 3
(2)of the European Communities (Mechanically Propelled Vehicle Emission Control) Regulations, 1995 is hereby amended by:— ( a ) the substitution in paragraph (
- a)for "31st day of December, 1997" of "30th day of June, 1998". ( b ) the substitution in paragraph (
- c)for "1st day of January, 1998" of "1st day of July, 1998". EXPLANATORY NOTE These Regulations extend the transitional technical arrangements until 30 June, 1998 for establishing compliance with Directive 94/12/EC concerning emissions from mechanically propelled vehicles.
