OIREACHTAS (ALLOWANCES TO MEMBERS) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1994 (SECTIONS 2 AND 3) ORDER, 1998. The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 2 and 3 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Act, 1994 , (No. 21 of 1994), hereby make the following order: 1. This Order may be cited as the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Act, 1994 (Sections 2 and 3) Order, 1998. 2. There shall be payable to every member of the Oireachtas who is the holder of the position of chairman of an Oireachtas Committee specified in column

(2)of the Schedule to this Order at any reference number, an annual allowance in respect of the member's duties as holder of such position, at the rate specified in column
(3)of the said Schedule opposite that reference number, in respect of any period— (
  1. a)in the case of the Committee of Public Accounts, being not earlier than the making of this Order, and (
  2. b)in the case of any other Oireachtas Committee specified in column
(2)of the Schedule to this Order at any reference number, since the date specified in column
(4)opposite that reference number, during which the said member holds or has held such position.
  1. There shall be payable to the member of Seanad Éireann who is the holder of the position of Leader of the House, an annual allowance, in respect of the member's duties as holder of such position, at the rate of£10,000, in respect of any period since the 6th day of August, 1997, during which the said member holds or has held such position.
  2. The Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Act, 1994 (Sections 2 and 3) Order, 1994 ( S.I. No. 302 of 1994 ), and the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Act, 1994 (Section 2) Order, 1995 ( S.I. No. 78 of 1995 ), are hereby revoked.
