GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 5th day of July, 1999. MARY HARNEY, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. EXPLANATORY NOTE. (This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) EC Council Directive 98/29/EC of 7 May, 1998 (O.J. No. L.148, 19.5.98, p.22) repeals and replaces Council Directive 70/509/EEC (O.J. No. L.254, 23.11.70, p.1) and Council Directive 70/510/EEC (O.J. No. L.254, 23.11.70, p.26). The Directive harmonises the main provisions to be applied by Member States when providing State supported export credit insurance in respect of medium and long-term transactions. The Directive also imposes an obligation on Member States to notify certain information to the Commission and to other Member States. These Regulations give effect in Irish legislation to the provisions of the Directive.
