(6)) (Commencement) Order, 2001 AmendmentsLeasuithe The Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 37

(8)of the Social Welfare Act, 2001 (No. 5 of 2001), hereby orders as follows: Citation. 1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 2001 (Section 37

(6)) (Commencement) Order,

1. Commencement.
2. Section 37

(6)of the Social Welfare Act, 2001 (No. 5 of 2001), shall come into operation - (

1. a)(
2. i)in so far as it relates to unemployment assistance, pre-retirement allowance and farm assist, on 26 December 2001, (
3. ii)in so far as it relates to unemployment benefit, on 27 December 2001, (iii) in so far as it relates to disability benefit, maternity benefit, adoptive benefit, health and safety benefit, injury benefit and supplementary welfare allowance on 31 December 2001, (
4. iv)in so far as it relates to sections 12

(2), 18

(2), 24 , and 24B

(3)of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 (No. 27 of 1993), respite care grant, child benefit and family income supplement, on 1 January 2002, (

1. v)in so far as it relates to disability allowance, on 2 January, 2002, (
2. vi)in so far as it relates to retirement pension, on 3 January 2002, and (vii) in so far as it relates to old age (contributory) pension, on 4 January 2002, and (
3. b)in so far as it relates to any other scheme, on 1 January, 2002. GIVEN under the Official Seal of the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, this 10th day of December, 2001. The Social Welfare Act, 2001 contains provisions for the conversion of certain monetary amounts contained in the Principal Act, consequent on the introduction of the new Euro currency in January, 2002. This Order gives effect to these provisions, and details the effective dates for the purposes of the relevant social welfare payments.
