No. 260/2002 - European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives Other Than Colours and Sweeteners ) (Amendment) Regulations, 2002 AmendmentsLeasuithe I, Micheál Martin, Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving further effect to Commission Directive 96/77/EC 1 of 2 December 1996 laying down specific purity criteria on food additives other than colours and sweeteners, as amended by Commission Directive 98/86/EC 2 of 11 November 1998, Commission Directive 2000/63/EC 3 of 5 October 2000 and Commission Directive 2001/30/EC 4 of 2 May 2001, hereby make the following Regulations: 1.

(1)These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) (Amendment Regulations, 2002.
(2)The European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) Regulations, 1998, 2000 and 2001 and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) Regulations 1998 to
  2. In these Regulations, “the Principal Regulations” means the European Communities (Purity Criteria on Food Additives other than Colours and Sweeteners) Regulations 1998 ( S.I. No. 541 of 1998 ).
  3. The Principal Regulations are hereby amended by:
(1)in Regulation 2
(1), by the substitution for the definition of “the Commission Directive” of the following: “ ‘the Commission Directive’ means Commission Directive 96/77/EC 2 of 2 December 1996, as amended by Commission Directive a 98/86/EC 4 of 11 November 1998, Commission Directive 2000/63/EC5 of 5 October 2000 and Commission Directive 2001/30/EC of 2 May 2001” and by the addition of the following footnotes thereto: “4 OJ. No. L334, 9.12.1998, p.1 5 OJ. No. L277, 30.10.2000, p.1 6 OJ. No. L146, 31.5.2001, p.1”
(2)by the substitution for Regulation 3 of the following: “3.
