No. 512/2002 - European Communities (Control of Exports of Dual-Use Items) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 AmendmentsLeasuithe I, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Regulation (EC) No. 1334/2000 of 22 June 20001 as amended by Council Regulation (EC) No. 2889/2000 of 22 December 20002 , Council Regulation (EC) No. 458/2001 of 6 March 20013 , Council Regulation (EC) No. 2432/2001 of 20 November 20014 , and Council Regulation (EC) No. 880/2002 of 27 May 20025 hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Control of Exports of Dual-Use Items)(Amendment) Regulations 2002. 2. The European Communities (Control of Exports of Dual-Use Items) Regulations 2000 ( S.I. No. 317 of 2000 ) are amended in Regulation 2
(1)by the substitution for the definition of “Council Regulation” of the following definition: “ ‘Council Regulation’ means Council Regulation (EC) No. 1334/2000 of 22 June 20006 as amended by Council Regulation (EC) No. 2889/2000 of 22 December 20007 Council Regulation (EC) No. 458/2001 of 6 March 20018 , Council Regulation (EC) No. 2432/2001 of 20 November 20019 and Council Regulation (EC) No. 880/2002 of 27 May 200210 ;”. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 12th day of November 2002 Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation). The effect of this Order is to amend the European Communities (Control of Exports of Dual-Use Items) Regulations, 2000 ( S.I. No. 317 of 2000 ) which provides effective control of exports of dual-use items (items which may be used for both civil and military purposes) as provided for in Council Regulation (EC) No. 1334/2000 of 22 June, 2000 and to provide for penalties of the prohibition.
