No. 523/2002 - European Communities (Trade With Iraq) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 AmendmentsLeasuithe I, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Regulation (EC) No. 1346/2002 of 25 July 20021 , hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Trade with Iraq) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 2. The following Regulation is substituted for Regulation 2 of the European Communities (Trade with Iraq) Regulations 1997 ( S.I. No. 370 of 1997 ): “2. In these Regulations ‘Council Regulation’ means Council Regulation (EC No. 2465/96 of 17 December 19962 as amended by Council Regulation 1346/2002 of 25 July 20021 .”. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 18th day of November 2002 Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation). The effect of this Order is to amend the Statutory Instrument that provided for penalties for infringements of Council Regulation (EC) No. 2465/96 prohibiting trade with Iraq.
