AmendmentsLeasuithe An Post, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act 1983 (No. 24 of 1983) as amended by Regulation 4
(1)of the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2000 ( S.I. No. 310 of 2000 ), and with the concurrence of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation to the increases in charges herein made hereby makes the following Scheme:
- This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 63 Scheme,
- This Scheme shall be operative with effect from the 2nd day of April
- In this Scheme, “the Principal Warrant” means the Inland Post Warrant 1939 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1939 ) as amended; “the Warrant of 1953” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant 1953 ( S.I. No. 248 of 1953 ); “the Warrant of 1974” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 19) Warrant 1974 ( S.I. No. 280 of 1974 ); “the Warrant of 1981” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 25) Warrant 1981 ( S.I. No. 116 of 1981 ); “Scheme No. 34” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 34) Scheme 1985 ( S.I. No. 445 of 1985 ); “Scheme No. 57” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 57) Scheme 1998 ( S.I. No. 129 of 1998 );
- All rates and charges payable upon letters and postal packets in this Scheme pertain to postal packets within the “reserved area” as defined by the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2000 (S.I. 310 of 2000).
- Words defined in the Principal Warrant shall have the same meaning in this Scheme.
- The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein contained (inserted by Regulation 12 of Scheme No. 57) of the entries in the Schedule to this Scheme.
- Regulation 5 of the Warrant of 1953 (inserted by Regulation 12 of the Warrant of 1974, as amended by Regulation 11 of the Warrant of 1981) is hereby amended by the deletion of the words “and, in addition to postage, a fee of one new penny shall also be charged”.
- Regulation 6 (b) of Scheme No. 34 is hereby amended by the deletion of the words “and, in addition, a fee of one new penny per item shall also be charged”. SCHEDULE Col. 1 Col. 2 Col. 3 Col. 4 Col. 5 Description of Postal Packet Rate of Postage Limit of Size Limit of Weight Conditions

(2)Not exceeding 50g .........47c Exceeding 50g but not exceeding 100g ...........60c Exceeding 100g but not exceeding 250g ........ 92c Exceeding 250g but not exceeding 350g (a)......... 149c Exceeding 250g but not exceeding 350g (b).......... 160c Maximum dimensions Length, 610mm, width, 460mm, depth, 460mm. In roll form, length and twice diameter, 990mm, greatest dimension, 810mm Minimum dimensions: Length, 100mm, width, 70mm. In roll form, length and twice diameter, 170mm, greatest dimension, not less than 100mm. The minimum dimensions do not apply in relation to letters which bear a rectangular address label of cardboard or strong paper of which the dimensions are not less than 100mm by 70mm. (
- a)This rate applies to flats which are defined as items exceeding 250g but not exceeding 350g with maximum dimensions: Length 400mm, Width 300mm, Depth 25mm. (
- b)This rate applies to packets exceeding 250g but not exceeding 350g which do not fall within the flats definition. 2. Postcard 41c Maximum dimensions: Length, 235mm Width, 162mm. with a tolerance of 2mm. Minimum dimensions: Length, 140mm Width, 90mm. with a tolerance of 2mm. 25g A postcard upon which no part, or a part only, of the postage payable thereon is prepaid shall be forwarded charged with the amount of the deficient postage plus a handling fee of 63c 3. - It authorises increases in the rates of postage and fees charged for postage of items in the Inland Service for Standard Mail within the reserved area as defined in European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2000 (S.I.310 of 2000).
