No. 213/2003 - European Communities (Protection of Waters Against Pollution From Agricultural Sources) Regulations, 2003 AmendmentsLeasuithe The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purposes of giving further effect to Council Directive 91/676/EEC of 12 December 1991 1 and Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2000 2 hereby makes the following Regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Protection of Waters Against Pollution from Agricultural Sources Regulations, 2003. 2. The national territory of Ireland is hereby identified for the purposes of Articles 3
(5)and 5 of Council Directive 91/676/EEC of 12 December

These Regulations identify the national territory of Ireland as the area to which an action programme will be applied to protect water quality against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources. The Regulations give further effect to Council Directive 91/676/EEC (the Nitrates Directive) and Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (the Water Framework Directive).
