No. 639/2003 - European Communities (Minimum Requirements For Vessels Carrying Dangerous Or Polluting Goods) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 AmendmentsLeasuithe I, DERMOT AHERN, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Directive 2002/84/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 November 20021 hereby make the following Regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Minimum requirements for vessels carrying dangerous or polluting goods) (Amendment Regulations) 2003. 2. The European Communities (Minimum requirements for vessels carrying dangerous or polluting goods) Regulations 1995 are amended as follows:

(1)in Regulation 3.

  1. a)in the definition of “Council Directive” by adding “as amended by Directive 2002/84/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 November 2002” after “......dangerous or polluting goods”. (
  2. b)by substituting the following for “IBC Code”“ “IBC Code” means the IMO International Code for construction and equipment of ships carrying dangerous chemicals in bulk, in its up-to-date version”. (
  3. c)by substituting the following for “IGC Code” “ “IGC Code” means the IMO International Code for the construction and equipment of ships carrying liquefied gases in bulk, in its up-to-date version”. (
  4. d)by substituting the following for “IMDG Code” ““IMDG Code” means the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, in its up-to-date version”. (
  5. e)by substituting the following for “MARPOL” ““Marpol 73/78” means the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, as amended by the Protocol of 1978 relating thereto, in their up-to-date versions”.
(2)in Regulation 17 by substituting “€3,000” for “£1,500”.
