No. 705 of 2005 . CRAB (FISHERIES MANAGEMENT AND CONSERVATION) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS 2005. I, PAT THE COPE GALLAGHER, Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 224B (inserted by section 5 of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act 1983 (No. 27 of 1983)) of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act 1959 (No. 14 of 1959) as amended by the Fisheries (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 1977 ( S.I. No. 30 of 1977 ) (as adapted by the Marine and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 307 of 2002 ) and the Marine (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order 2004 ( S.I. No. 703 of 2004 )) hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Crab (Fisheries Management and Conservation) (No. 2) Regulations 2005. 2. In these Regulations— “edible crab” means Cancer pagurus; “spider crab” means Maja squinado; “ICES” means the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea; “Irish sea-fishing boat over 10 metres” means a boat equal to or greater than 10 metres in length overall and entered in the Register of Fishing Boats; “Irish sea-fishing boat over 15 metres” means a boat equal to or greater than 15 metres in length overall and entered in the Register of Fishing Boats; “master” in relation to a sea-fishing boat, means the master skipper or other person for the time being in charge of the boat; “Register of Fishing Boats” means the Register of Fishing Boats established and maintained pursuant to the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 (as adapted and amended by any subsequent enactments); “specified area” means waters falling within ICES (International Council for the Exploration of the Sea) sub-area VII as described in Communication (85/C347/05) from the Commission of the European Communities on the description of the ICES sub-areas and divisions used for the purposes of fishing statistics and regulations in the North East Atlantic; “biologically sensitive area” means waters falling within the area enclosed by the coast of Ireland to the south of 53°30'N and to the west of 07°00'W and straight line sequentially joining the following geographical coordinates: — a point on the coast of Ireland at latitude 53°30'N — latitude 53°30'N, longitude 12°00'W — latitude 53°00'N, longitude 12°00'W — latitude 51°00'N, longitude 11°00'W — latitude 49°30'N, longitude 11°00'W — latitude 49°30'N, longitude 07°00'W — a point on the coast of Ireland at longitude 07°00'W 3.
